Topics: Obesity as a Chronic Disease and Parkinson’s Disease for Family Doctors
Learning Objectives:
At conclusion of this activity, participants will:
· * Recognize the definition and pathophysiology of obesity as a chronic disease.
· * Recall the key points from the Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines.
· * Identify evidence-based pharmacological management for obesity.
· * Identify complications of obesity and how medication impacts the complications.
· * Recognize key clinical features of idiopathic Parkinson’s and list the diagnostic criteria.
· * Differentiate clinical features of idiopathic Parkinson’s from its mimics such as tremor and atypical Parkinson’s.
· * Determine when and how to initiate management in early Parkinson’s
· * List common side effects of dopaminergic therapy and establish strategies to manage these side effects.
