The Chronic Pain Program is a new program being offered to Family Physicians. This program’s content focuses on the Public Health Perspective and Epidemiology, Core Concepts in Pain, Approaches to Chronic Non-Cancer Pain Management, Opioids, Cannabinoids, Prescribing for Special Populations, and Recognizing, and Approaches to, Opioid and Substance Use Disorders (OUD/SUD).

The Family Medicine Lecture Series (FMLS) delivers a weekly live, virtual lecture series to Family Physicians. The FMLS is a partnership between the Family Practice Renewal Program, the Endeavor, RE-Boot, Shalloway and Long Range Family Practice Networks, Memorial’s Office of Professional and Educational Development and Distributed Medical Education Dept., and the Regional Health Authorities. The topics have been identified by family physicians and are relevant to family medicine. This program has been highly successful and is well-attended.

The Frailty Series is one of the most popular program offerings. The Frailty series is the collaborative effort of two Geriatricians and eight Family Physicians from across the province. This team of physicians develop and deliver content focused on care of the older adult. Topics include Dementia, Delirium, Frailty, Appropriate Prescribing, Advance Care Planning, Capacity Assessment, Falls, Elimination, Pain, Insomnia, Exercise, Osteoporosis, Substance Use Disorder – Opioids and Alcohol, Driving, Chronic Disease Management, Nutrition, Depression and Anxiety, Sexuality and Aging, Dermatology, and Chronic Kidney Disease.

MyPractice is a robust educational and support program for family physicians starting a new practice in the province, moving from one practice to another within the province, or transitioning from active practice to retirement. The program elements consist of online modules, Bootcamp Workshops, and a Mentor Matching Service.

MyQ provides family physicians with support and programming to improve clinic processes. The program leads to improved quality of care for patients and a better work/life balance for participating physicians. This program offers support from national experts, local physicians, and MyQ practice facilitators.

The Palliative Care Program is a group learning program for family physicians focusing on palliative care in the community. Topics include: Delirium, Dyspnea, Nausea and Constipation, Opioids, and Pain.
A virtual offering of the Palliative Care Program was held in April 2024.
The Buprenorphine/Naloxone Treatment of Addiction Program provides family physicians with key learnings on how to care for patients who are opioid dependent.
The program describes opioid dependency features, treatments, and screening information. It has been updated to include new content relating to pregnancy and opioid addiction treatment and microdosing in response to physician interest and new practice guidelines.
