NEW program! MyPractice – The Business Side of Family Medicine

December 21, 2021

FPRP launches a new program: MyPractice – The Business Side of Family Medicine

If you are looking to start a new family medicine practice, move to a different practice, or transition into retirement, MyPractice is a training and support program that can help.

Developed by the Family Practice Renewal Program (FPRP) and Memorial University’s Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED) (Faculty of Medicine), in partnership with a team of eight family physicians from across the province,MyPractice is an education and support program that will help reduce some of the unknowns about the business side of Family Medicine. This comprehensive program includes topics ranging from business planning, types of practice arrangements, professional obligations, setting up office space, managing your practice, employee management and technology in practice.

Participants also have the flexibility to learn what they want, when they want and how they want through a blended learning approach of directed online learning modules, local live boot camp workshops and a Mentor Matching service. We are proud of this partnership and pleased that Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine has endorsed this program. Please click here for a message from Dr. Margaret Steele (Dean of Medicine), Dr. Andrew Hunt (Assistant Dean, Distributed Medical Education) and Dr. Danielle O’Keefe (Chair, Discipline of Family Medicine).

The program is open to all family physicians regardless of payment model, new graduates transitioning to practice, and out-of-province family doctors looking to establish a practice in Newfoundland and Labrador. Among those that can benefit from this learning opportunity are recent graduates of the Family Medicine residency program who choose to stay in this province.

Please view our brochure for a snapshot of the program or visit our website to learn more. FPRP will also be hosting information sessions in early 2022 to highlight key features of the program. Stay tuned for details.

In the video below, Dr. Annabeth Loveys talks about how MyPractice can be a valuable program for those making practice transitions.
